RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR BRITISH NATIONALS AND BREXIT
Brexit and the Withdrawal Agreement between the UK and the EU had created a new line, so now it becomes relevant to know exactly who are those British nationals residing in Spain before the end of the transition period, on December 31 st of 2020,
and those who will move to Spain after that date.
If you reside in Spain before December 31 st , 2020, you will be entitled all the rights regarding residence, free movement and Social Security that are recognized by the Withdrawal Agreement.
The British citizens who arrive after that date will have different rights, those set and recognized by the future relationship between the European Union and the United Kingdom.Nationals of the United Kingdom who enter Spain after January 1 st , 2021 will be considered nationals of countries outside the EU, so general immigration regime will apply for them, unless a future relationship agreement is negotiated between the countries.

WHERE SHOULD YOU APPLY FOR IT?
If you still don’t have the digital certificate, you must apply for residency at the government sub-delegation of the province where you reside.

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE RESIDENCY IN SPAIN

The new TIE cards are granted for a period of 5 years.
